Tools for Effective Self-Evaluation, SIP and PM:
Template forms, checklists and worked examples on CD-ROM to prepare for Ofsted inspections from September 2009

New SEF and inspection framework from September 2009

From September 2009, Ofsted will be using a new inspection schedule and framework. Schools will have to complete the new Self-Evaluation Form (SEF), available to schools in July 2009. The new SEF has a number of additional sections and new guidance for awarding grades. From September, the current way of preparing for inspection, along with the old SEF, will be obsolete!

Get your new SEF ready with our help

To help schools to complete the new self-evaluation form and to prepare for the new inspections, we have completely rewritten our hugely popular, essential publication on school self-evaluation, which is used by over 2,600 schools. We have also added a wealth of additional material designed to help you to integrate all aspects of self-evaluation, including whole-school improvement planning (SIP) and the performance management (PM) of staff.

Our practical handbook and accompanying CD-ROM will help you to: complete your SEF effectively and efficiently; carry out purposeful, focused school improvement planning and staff performance management; and be fully prepared for the new inspections. This new publication is:

  • Comprehensive: It includes ready-made information-gathering forms, checklists & questionnaires covering all sections in the new SEF form, as well as help with integrating self-evaluation with the SIP and PM processes.
  • Easy to use: Customisable template Word documents on the CD-ROM can be adapted to suit your school’s circumstances – it takes just seconds to choose the one that meets your needs.
  • Authoritative: Written by Tony Powell, a former Principal Adviser and experienced Ofsted inspector, as well as the author of a range of highly regarded publications.
  • Time-saving: Our sample documents enable you to focus on collecting the right evidence and recording judgements, rather than spending days producing forms, checklists and questionnaires.
  • Cost-effective: Our worked examples of completed SEF questions show you how to complete your SEF effectively – at a fraction of the cost of a consultant.

Updates are issued quarterly to reflect any modifications to legal aspects or content, as well as for functional improvements. (See the order form for more details.)

Order this essential new publication today to answer any questions you may have after the Ofsted regional conferences by faxing using this order form, where you will also see a full list of contents.
