Increased focus on the inspection of safeguarding children and young people
From January 2010 NHS trusts and their service providers need to meet legally enforceable standards on safeguarding of children in order to register with the CQC.
The CQC can register trusts with conditions, issue fines and even force closure to enforce compliance. Additionally, in October 2009 the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act came into force,
introducing a centralised vetting system for people banned from working with children and vulnerable adults.
There will be fines of up to £5,000 for anyone that knowingly employs individuals on the list or fails to make the relevant checks.

and step by step guides on how to raise concerns with other agencies about possible abuse/neglect/missing child.
